PT Kaltim Nitrate Indonesia once again received the Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable Village Development (CSR & PDB) Awards 2023.

The award was presented directly by the Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. (HC) Drs. A. Hakim Iskandar, M.Pd., and the Chairman of the Indonesian Social Sustainability Forum, Sudarmanto, to the Government, Community Relations & GA Dept Head, Rheza Zacharias, at the Bintan Agro Beach Resort Hotel, Bintan, Riau Islands, on Wednesday (01/02/2023).

The CSR & PDB Awards 2023 is a collaboration between the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration, and the Indonesian Social Sustainability Forum (ISSF). The award is given to companies or individuals who have successfully supported and empowered communities through Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDesa) or other CSR programs. The event features three award categories: Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

During this event, PT KNI received the highest recognition, the Gold Award, through its program Perahu Kertas (Protection and Fulfillment of Creativity for Children with Disabilities).

Rheza expressed that the Perahu Kertas program is part of PT Kaltim Nitrate Indonesia’s sustainability commitment in implementing Community Development Programs in Bontang, East Kalimantan. It also aligns with the Global Goals in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“It is an honor for us at PT Kaltim Nitrate Indonesia to receive this award for the second time. This achievement is the result of synergy and collective efforts from all stakeholders involved in implementing sustainable Community Development Programs in Bontang,” he said.

“Thank you to the entire Perahu Kertas Program Team. We hope this becomes a momentum to further strengthen the collaboration in our program implementation. We expect that this program continues to support the creation of an inclusive society, enabling children to grow and develop according to their potential,” Rheza added.

The Perahu Kertas Program is a collaborative initiative between PT KNI and the Bontang City Government through the Office of Women’s Empowerment and Family Planning (DPPKB), together with the Loktuan Subdistrict and all program volunteers. Its implementation is based on Law No. 35 of 2014, an amendment to Law No. 23 of 2002 on Child Protection. Article 1, paragraph 15, stipulates that one form of special protection for children is provided to children with disabilities, which includes protection from violence and discrimination.
