Community Investment Program: The Bontang Creative Hub
21 Nov 2022

Groundbreaking Ceremony, Bontang Creative HUB (21/11/2022)
Bontang is one of the regions with a high number of people in the productive age group, especially Gen-Zs. This generation represents the future of all of us. Therefore, it is essential to provide various spaces that can nurture the diverse potential of our Gen-Zs.
This is what encouraged PT Kaltim Nitrate Indonesia to develop a new and sustainable program: the Bontang Creative HUB, initiated by PT KNI in collaboration with the Bontang City Office of Library and Archives. The Bontang Creative HUB building will be constructed by PT KNI on land owned by the Bontang City Government, located at the Office of Library and Archives.
So, what is Bontang Creative Hub?
Across various regions in Indonesia, a Creative HUB is understood as an ecosystem that serves as a platform to cultivate resilient and productive young generations. For this reason, the name “Bontang Creative HUB” was chosen as an ideal space for young people to develop themselves—individually or through the many integrated communities in Bontang.
The development plan for the Bontang Creative HUB was launched together with the Mayor of Bontang during the “Bontang Membaca, Menulis, dan Berolahraga (BOMBALIGA)” event. This reflects PT KNI’s commitment to supporting the Bontang City Government’s programs, especially the Mayor’s vision of realizing social inclusion in Bontang.
Additionally, this program was designed based on a mapping of the potentials and needs of Millennials in Bontang. With this approach, the Bontang Creative HUB is expected to become a new space that provides positive value for the entire community. This new space is also aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), consisting of 17 global goals. The Bontang Creative HUB supports the achievement of SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
One of the targets of SDG 11 is that by 2030, cities should provide safe, inclusive, and accessible public spaces and green areas, especially for women, children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. This is what we have begun to realize through CSR programs in collaboration with the Bontang City Government, particularly in human resource development initiatives.
Following today’s Groundbreaking Ceremony, we hope the construction process will proceed smoothly, so that in April 2023, the Bontang Creative HUB building and its programs can be launched together.
Lastly, we hope that the Bontang Creative HUB will become a lasting legacy of PT Kaltim Nitrate Indonesia—supporting the Bontang City Government in creating social inclusion based on community and literacy development.
