Orica Impact Fund: KNI's Heart of Giving
04 May 2026
On this year’s World Health Day, we contributed to the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Bontang with the city’s first ever bloodmobile, supporting the city’s efforts to strengthen access to safe and reliable blood services.

Made possible through the 5th round of Orica Impact Fund and delivered through KNI Care: Solidarity for Life, the initiative supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—specifically SDG 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). The program responds to local challenges in blood supply by helping PMI Bontang increase accessibility, enhance service quality, and extend outreach to more communities.
To mark the handover, KNI and PMI Bontang also hosted a blood donation drive themed “The Heart of Giving”. The theme underscores that meaningful giving begins with sincerity, empathy, and care for others. “Heart” also reflects the vital role blood plays in saving lives—symbolising how each donation can become a gift of hope for someone in need.
During the handover ceremony, representatives from KNI and local authorities highlighted the importance of partnerships in achieving the greater good. Mayor of Bontang, Neni Moerniaeni, noted that, “Today marks a historic milestone. On behalf of myself, the Mayor of Bontang, along with the entire administration, and the people of Bontang, would like to express our gratitude to PT KNI for today's donation of one unit of blood mobile.”
Site Manager, Budi Santoso emphasized that humanitarian efforts should be driven by sincerity.
“This is part of our commitment to continuously contribute to the achievement of the SDGs. We chose to carry out blood donation drive in collaboration with PMI Bontang because we truly understand that the blood in our bodies can become a lifesaving gift for others.”
Project head of the initiative, Rheza Zacharias also expressed optimism about the program’s potential to inspire wider participation.
“With the first bloodmobile in Bontang, we believe that this program could inspire others to contribute more actively to the city and its people. We are deeply grateful to Orica for this opportunity.”
Together, we continue to turn compassion into action and make a positive difference in the communities we serve.
